Nobile famiglia di Polizzi, derivata al dir di Mugnos appoggiato al Pisanelli dall'antica Roncioni di Pisa, della quale Guido e Simone furono capitani delle navi pisane nella spedizione di Terrasanta. Fu detta R., dal perchè Ludovico e Gaddo Roncioni si divisero dalla loro famiglia, che aderiva all''impero alemanno parteggiando essi per la Francia, perciò detti Rampolli, val quanto dire essere un rampollo solo rimasto devoto. Ella tenne in Pisa sin dal 1225 le primarie cariche di priore e di anziano. Trapiantata venne in Sicilia nel 1398 da un Prospero R., che casatosi in Messina con Anna Saccano generò Girolamo cav. gerosolimitano. Ne venne tra gli altri un Antonino R., che fu il primo a stabilirsi in Polizzi verso l'anno 1500, ove i suoi discendenti occuparono le cariche di capitano giustiziere e di giurato, ed un Antonino ottenne titolo di conte del Tindaro nel 1730. la di cui linea continuò sino
