Alte korsische Familie florentinischen Ursprungs, die sich über die Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Regionen Italiens ausbreitete. Ein Taddeo Franceschi ging zu Beginn des 14. Jahrhunderts nach Korsika, wo seine Nachkommen während der Aufstandsbewegungen der Insel wichtige militärische und zivile Ämter im Namen der Republik Genua unterstützten, denen sie ständig treu blieben. Grund, der ihn jedoch zwang, für einige Zeit auf den Kontinent zu ziehen. Als Korsika 1768 mit Frankreich vereinigt wurde, wurde Giuseppe Franceschi, Präsident des Gerichts von Savona, zum königlichen Richter der Stadt und der Gerichtsbarkeit von Bastìa und Berater des Königs ernannt. 1789 war er Präsident der korsischen Versammlung der Generalstaaten. Nach der britischen Besetzung der Insel zog er sich nach Frankreich zurück, wo er mit dem Amt des Kriegskommissars der Armee der Alpen betraut wurde. Er starb 1795.
