Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Pierre, établi en Bretagne à la suite de la duchesse Isabeau d'Ecosse en 1442, naturalisé en 1477, échanson du duc François I et fait prisonnier à la bataille de St-Aubin du Cormier en 1488. De son mariage avec Marguerite de Trélan, fille de Jean, grand-veneur de Bretagne, il laissa deux fils: Etienne, auteurs des seigneurs de Truscat; Jean, capitaine de Sucinio en 1480. Guillaume, auditeur des comptes en 1551, avocat-général en 1575; Jean, chevalier de l'ordre et maître d'hôtel du Roi en 1630; Pierre et Louis-Hercule, abbés de Saint-Jacut de 1616 à 1687; Catherine, fondatrice des dames de la Retraite en 1664; Daniel, évêque de Périgueux et abbé de Tréport en 1694; trois avocats-généraux au parlement et deux présidents à mortier depuis 1664.
