Ancienne et très noble famille du royaume de Naples, d'origine normande, de vertu claire et ancestrale, connue sous le nom de Franco, de Franco ou de Franchis, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie. Les premières nouvelles relatives à cette famille se trouvent à Capoue, ville d'où les Francs furent exilés en 1066 à la suite de la révolte anti-normande, pour y revenir ensuite sous la régence du prince Giordano II, avec Landulfus et Landenulfus de Lufrancu. La famille s'est ramifiée dans plusieurs villes, dont : Piedimonte d'Alife, Sant'Angelo d'Alife, Bénévent, Mugnano del Cardinale, Sarno et Naples, où elle a été agrégée au Sedile di Capuana, depuis 1269 en la personne de Giovanni .
