Descendem o Francos, ao que parece, de Roberto de la Corne, que com seu irmão Guilherme de la Corne povoou Vila Franca. Roberto de la Corne foi senhor da mesma vila e alciade de Azambuja. Casou em Portugal e teve João Roberto de la Corne, o F., senhor alcaide de Atouguia, que, do seu casamento, teve Gonçalo Anes F., alcaide e senhor de Atouguia, que casou com D. Teresa Gil, filha de Gil Varela e de D. Estevainha Pires. Tiveram geração e dizem os genealogistas que deles procedem os Francos. Da ilha Terceira, Açores: família descendente, por legitima varonia, de João F., o Velho, patrão da Ribeira de Angra e instituidor e um vínculo na ilha Terceira (7.12.1634), que f. a 29.5.1638, tendo casado com Maria Cardoso; destes foi bisneto tomás Franco da C., fidalgo da C. R. (alv. de 6.12.1719), fidalgo de cota de armas (c. de 7.11.1719), governador do castelo de S. João Baptista de Angra, etc., que n. a 3.8.1671 e c. com D. Luísa de Santo Inácio. Do citado Tomás F. da Csota e sua mulher foi neto Inácio-Xavier da Costa F., fidalgo da C. R. (alv. de 29.8.1753), capitão do castelo de S. João Baptista, que n. a 4.3.1741 e f. a 9.1.1804, tendo casado, a 3.2.1749, com D. Rosa-Mariana dos Santos, filha de Francisco dos Santos e mulher Maria-Inácia-da-Porciúncula. Foram os 4º avós, por varonia, do actual representante desta família.
