Noble and very ancient family, which was also said of the Forest, and who was originally from France and lady of many castles in the Upper Valdarno and Valdelsa, including Staggia who sold to the Florentine republic in 1361. From this family the famous family was born dei Bandinelli-Paparoni, who gave a Pope with the name of Alexander III. Pietro-Paolo was elected Bishop of Montepulciano in 1757. Nel 1383 Guido di Francesco si fece di Popolo mutando il cognome in «della Foresta» e cambiando lo stemma in un partito d'azzurro e d'argento, alla fascia attraversante d'oro; per i suoi figli invece, lo stemma fu d'azzurro, al leopardo sedente d'oro, collarinato e incatenato d'argento.
