Antica e potente famiglia veronese, trovandosi fra i congiurati di Mastino I della Scala nel 1277 Ottone, Odorico ed Achille. Nel sec. XIV, è nominato il notaio Antonio e al principio del sec. XV, Michele, figlio del precedente, coprì la carica di Console della casa dei Mercanti. Giovanni, letterato, compose nel 1596 un poema eroico, intitolato "La Malteide" al quale poema precede il giudizio di Torquato Tasso, assai lodevole per l'autore. Luigi, valoroso guerriero ai servigi della Repubblica Veneta, che gli fu larga di onori e di ricompense, morì nel 1578, all'età di 105 anni. La famiglia fu ascritta al Consiglio di Verona dall'anno 1433, ed i suoi membri vi si mantennero sino agli ultimi tempi. Il nobile Michele di Giovanni, con diploma 16 aprile 1425 dell'imperatore Sigismondo fu decorato del titolo di Conte S.R.I. coi discendenti maschi e per terminazione 29 genn. 1789 dei Provveditori sopra Feudi, i discendenti
