Originaria di Milano, passata in Bitonto nel XII secolo ed infeudato di Binetto e di Ceglie. Ricevuta per giustizia nel S. M. O. di Malta nel 1780 come quarto di altra famiglia; ed ancora nel 1795 come uno dei quarti del cavaliere Scipione Elefante di Barletta (Gran Magistero Roma, Alberi genealogici N. 410). Ascritta nel 1801 all' Elenco del Priorato di Barletta. Riconosciuta ammissibile nelle RR. Guardie del Corpo. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobile Italiano col titolo di nobile di Bitonto (maschi), ed è rappresentata da Giulio, di Domenico, di Francesco, nato Bitonto 14 gennaio 1846; sposato in Bitonto 26 luglio 1887 con nobile Marianna Sylos Calò. Figli: Maria Giuseppina (nata 12 giugno 1888); Domenico (nato 3 settembre 1890); Maria Antonia (nata 12 febbraio 1894). Fratelli: Andrea, Vincenzo, nato a Bitonto 23 luglio 1855. Altro ramo. Originaria di Milano, fu portata nelle Puglie da un milite di nome
