Antiga e ilustre família italiana, de clara e ancestral virtude, conhecida como Franza, Frenza ou Frenz, de clara e ancestral virtude, espalhada ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Europa e do mundo. Originário da França, como o próprio nome indica, uma variante arcaica da palavra França, possui inúmeras filiais na Itália e na Alemanha. Nesta última nação era conhecido como Frenz e floresceu nobremente em Nuremberg. Em território italiano, chegou ao tempo de Carlos de Anjou. Primeiro transplantado para a área napolitana, rapidamente se espalhou por todo o reino, com grandes assentamentos nas áreas da Calábria, Apúlia e Molise. Seu progenitor na Itália queria tanto um Giovannino que foi investido pelo rei Ladislao com muitos feudos nobres, incluindo S. Cassiano, Nochoose, Nardo e Andrani.
