Antiga e muito nobre família francesa, originária da Bretanha, conhecida como Fresnaye ou Fresnays (de la), de clara e ancestral virtude, espalhada ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da França e do mundo. Segundo o que nos é transmitido, a família obteve um friso de nobreza com cartas patentes de 1471, na pessoa de Payen Macé, senhor de la Fresnaye, marido Jeanne des Grées.
