Nobile originaria di Scala ed ivi ricordata fin dall'anno 1096, passata in Bisceglie fra la fine del secolo XV ed i principi del secolo seguente, ascritta al primo Ordine municipale di tale città, e ricevuta per giustizia nell'Ordine di Malta dal 1704. Fu inoltre decorata per diretta concessione del titolo di Duca di Scorrano dal 1725 e dell'altro di Conte di S. Cassiano dal 1755, e per successione di un ramo dell'Illustrissima Casa Spinelli non ancora legalmente riconosciuta avrebbe dritto a' titoli di Principi di Tarsia (1612), Principe di Oliveto (1614), Marchese di Vico (15640), Marchese di Cerò (1586) e Conte di Bianco (1607). Ai termini dell'ascrizione all'Elenco regionale napolitano ha dritto ai titoli di Duca di Scorrano (pr.), e di Conte di S. Cassiano (pr.), il discendente primogenito di Giuseppe ascritto nel 1801 all'Elenco del Priorato di Barletta; e spetta il titolo di Nobile col pred. de' Duca di
