Capostipite della famiglia Frosini fu un Fruosino de Fruosino cittadino pisano, console dell'arte dei mercanti (1272). Il figlio di lui, Pietro, nel 1331 (30 dicembre), dal luogotenente del re di Francia fu creato console "Nationis Francorum et Gallorum tam in portu Pisano quam in civitate Pisarum ecc."; esso è detto noile cittadino Pisano "mercatorem siricarium et unum ex consiliariis mercium pro dominio Pisane civitatis". Nel 1338 era primo Console dei mercanti e nel 1349, dopo la peste, fu incaricato di visitare le spiaggie pisane e il porto di Piombino e di ordinare provvidenze per la difesa della marina contro il contagioso morbo.
