Família que se acredita ser de origem provençal e que se estabeleceu como residência permanente na região de Veneto no século XIV. Os Carraresi serviram em Pádua com funções militares e o Imperador Frederico III, que com um diploma em 24 de novembro de 1484 elevou a dignidade do Conde Palatine e do sagrado palácio de Latrão Damiano di Teodoro. Giovani Battista e Damiano Roberto di Antonio, tiveram a confirmação do título com a Resolução Soberana Austríaca de 25 de julho de 1817.
