Antigua y muy noble familia toscana, con residencia en la ciudad de Pistoia, donde tenía una tumba en la Catedral, de clara y ancestral virtud, que se extendió a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia. La clara nobleza de la familia se evidencia por su presencia en las valiosas obras: "Escudo de armas e insignias de Pistoia con notas históricas" del Dr. G. Mazzer, y la "Colección Ceramelli Papiani", establecida durante muchos años por Enrico Ceramelli Papiani (1896 -1976), que es un fondo preservado en los Archivos Estatales de Florencia y compuesto por casi 8000 archivos, dirigido a familias toscanas de origen antiguo, que proporcionan información genealógica y heráldica tomada de fuentes de archivo conservadas en el Archivo Florentino o en otros institutos de archivo o en bibliotecas regionales.
