Família antiga e nobre originária de Nus mas com residência principal em Aosta, de clara e ancestral virtude, que se difundiu mundialmente, ao longo dos séculos. A clara nobreza da Casa é confirmada pela presença do seu brasão na valiosa obra "Il Dizionario storico-blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane, estinte e fiorenti" do escritor e heráldico italiano Giovan Battista di Crollalanza (19 de maio de 1819 – 8 de março de 1892), publicada em Pisa em três volumes entre 1886 e 1890. Aliás, esta família, em todas as épocas, sempre se destaca, graças às figuras proeminentes, que deram origem, no serviço público, nas profissões liberais e eclesiásticas e no serviço militar. Antonio, filho de Pietro, ambos notários, em 1571, comprou o feudo de Brissogne e, em 24 de janeiro de 1574, obteve o título de barão.
