Oroginaria di Nizza, ebbe il conferimento della nobiltà in persona di Giovanni Franceso, dottore in leggi e magistrato, il quale fu infeudato della Maddalena il 3 febbraio 1734 e quindi investito con titolo baronale il 22 febbraio. Si formarono 2 linee di questa famiglia, di cui la prima si estine con Massimiliano, di Giacinto Onorato, morto nel 1866 senza lasciare discendenza. Della seconda linea, Michele (n. Nizza 1806), di Brumone, maggiore di fanteria, optò per la nazionalità italiana nel 1861. Altro ramo. Antica famiglia originaria di Nizza, e fregiata del titolo di baroni della Maddalena. Altra famiglia alzò per arma. Spaccato; nel primo d'azzurro, alla fenice d'argento sulla sua immortalità di rosso volta verso un sole d'ora a destra; nel secondo di rosso, a due leoni d'oro, affrontati, sostenenti fra ambi un elmo d'argento chiuso in faccia; con la fascia in divisa d'argento attraversante sulla partizione.
