Es wird angenommen, dass die alte und sehr edle Familie des Königreichs Neapel, Galluccio oder Gallucci genannt, lombardischen Ursprungs ist und von Pandolfo, dem Prinzen von Capua und Grafen von Teano, Sessa und Carinola, abstammt. In Apulien baute er eine Burg, die Galluccio seinen Namen gab. In diesem Schloss wurde Roger, Graf von Sizilien, ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert, als er zur Flucht gezwungen wurde, weil Papst Innozenz II., Der nicht wie seine Vorgänger Callisto und Honorius tolerierte, dass Roger zum König von Italien ernannt wurde, ihn plötzlich mit einer starken Armee angriff.
