Família descendente de Simão Braz Gameiro, natural de Ancião, onde nasceu entre 1550 e 1560 e onde faleceu a 3.1.1631, casado com Helena Freire, que faleceu na mesma vila a 26.4.1640. Destes foi bisneto Luís F. Gameiro, familiar do Santo Ofício, nascido em Porto de Mós a 24.2.1664, casado com D. Leonor Freire Monteiro, baptizada na Golegã a 7.1.1667 e falecida em Torres Novas a 18.4.1746. Deste último casal foi filho e herdeiro João F. Gameiro de Souto Mayor, fidalgo de cota de armas, capitão-mór de Torres Novas, cavaleiro da o. de Cristo (11.7.1748), irmão do Dom Prior Geral da Ordem de Cristo (1753-55 e 1761-64) frei Jerónimo de Souto Mayor, o qual casou com D. Maria-Madalena de Sousa Cid, bapt. em Briteiros, Celorico de Basto, a 31.7.1695, administradora do vínculo da quinta do Vale Minhoto, na freg. de S. Tiago de Torres Novas, instituído em 1592, por João Álvares da Costa, e representante da família Sousa Cid, formada no princípio do séc. XVI com o casamento de seus antepassados Martim Álvares Cid com D. Isabel de Sousa. Foi filho primogénito deste último casal o dr. Francisco-António Freire de Sousa Cid, cavaleiro da o. de Cristo, senhor do vínculo da quinta do Vale Minhoto, que nasceu a 12.1.1712 e casou na Chamusca, a 18.6.1748, com D. Eulália-Justina Gameiro de Barros Salter de Mendonça, natural daquela vila, filha de Francisco-Xavier Salter de Mendonça e mulher D. Leonor Clemente de Barros, representante da família Salter de Mendonça.
