Familia antigua y noble, originaria de Legnago, llamada Garbo o Garbi, cuyo blasón es reportado, por el comentarista GB de Crollalanza, en los volúmenes de su "Diccionario histórico blasón de familias nobles y notables italianas". Otra rama Familia florentina muy noble, llamada Garbo o Del Garbo, que había dado su nombre a una calle en el distrito de S. Croce, que se ha extendido a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia. El origen de esta cognominación, en nombre de genealogistas ilustres, debe buscarse en una forma apocopaica del nombre germánico "Garbaldus", que a su vez, se origina en la unión de los términos "gari" (= lanza) y "calvo" (= audacia ), probablemente pertenecía a un progenitor, hoy desconocido.
