Nobilissima prosapia spagnola, di chiara ed avita virtù, la cui cognominizzazione ebbe origine dall'omonimo nome proprio, che in lingua spagnola significa "Príncipe de vista agraciada". Uno dei primi personaggi di cotal cognome, risulta essere un Ramiro Garcia, podestà e governatore spagnolo, nell'anno 843. Nel X secolo, invece, si ha notizia di un Sancho Garcia, ufficiale del conte di Castiglia. Tuttavia, molti autori sostengono che il capostipite di tal casato sia stato quel Garcia-Jimenez, eroe della riconquista di Aragona, che espugnò Ainsa, ove si fortificò, prendendo il nome di Re di Sobrarbe. Altri autori, invece, parlano di tre fratelli Garcia, distintisi nella difesa della città di Leon, la prima volta che cadde in mano Mori. Essi furono gli ultimi a lasciare la città, quando la resistenza divenne impossibile: uno andò a Balisa, un altro stabilì nel quartiere di Armentero ed il terzo si insediò nel distretto in Modino Ribela.
