Battista di Matteo e Ferrante di Giov-Camillo furono degli anziani, il primo nel 1480, e l'altro nel 1588. Stervinazzo nel 1508 raccolse in sua casa una mano di armati contro la casa Marescotti, e nel 1511 morì in esilio nella città di Fermo. Giambattista fu dottor di leggi collegiato, consigliere di Stato del Duca di Parma, senatore di questa città, poi consultore del senato di Bologna, e finalmente uditore della Rota criminale di Genova dove morì. Odoardo suo figlio fu anch'esso dottor di leggi e cavaliere del Duca di Parma, poi senatore di Mantova. Fu costume delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Imperio, in quella inondatione de' Barbari, havendo i loro cognomi, sicome gli studi, e altre cose belle smarrito e restati solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi, e il loro casato da' nomi proprii paterni, e de' maggiori.

Stemma della famiglia Garzaria da Bologna, ricostruito da un disegno conservato presso la Biblioteca Comunale dell'Archiginnasio di Bologna nell'opera "Il Blasone bolognese, cioè Arme gentilizie di famiglie bolognesi, nobili, cittadinesche e aggregate" di Floriano Canetoli realizzata tra il 1791 e il 1795.
