Nel 1193 il Conte Gastone fu ammazzato dai figli Ginselino perchè li aveva banditi dalla città. Nel 1202 Guido de Gastone era console del Comune. Nel 1243 Eccelino cominciò a perseguitare la casa Gastone perchè era amica dei Pilei, la quale dovette esulare; ma il tiranno ne fece atterrare tutte le case e torri, e nel 1250 la bandì di nuovo e ne confiscò i beni. Alla morte di Eccelino, Guido di Gastone ritornò in patria, e nel 1261 fu sindaco del Comune. Altro ramo. Antica e nobile famiglia originaria della Sicilia. Tali sono i principii, che da sopracitati Autori si diedero a questa famiglia, ma per esser questo fatto assai remoto, e d'historia molto lontana, lasciamo perciò a più eruditi delle sacre antichità, e dell'historie l'investigarne il suo certo principio.
