Very illustrious house of Brittany, of great antiquity, whose first known authors are: Payen, crusader in 1248, (Latin charters from 1191 to 1249 relating to the crusaders, coming from the Courtois cabinet); Jean, married to Thomine de Bois-Adam, killed at the battle of Poitiers in 1356; Rolland, adviser to the duke, by marrying in 1450 Jeanne de Dolo, lady of Ville-Mainguy, took the arms of Dolo by changing the enamels and their descendants wore them ever since; Raoul, killed at the battle of St-Aubin du Cormier in 1488; Jacques, by marrying Claudine, lady of Robien in 1569, took the name for himself and his descendants, but keeping the arms of Dolo, substituted for those of Gautron. The lords of Espinay, parish of Ros-sur-Couaisnon, and Haut-Keraillé, parish of Mérillac, rejected at the reformation of 1669.
