Famiglia antica dell'Astigiana, poi in Torino. Le prime memorie ci ricordano un Filiberto che viveva alla fine del secolo XVI, da cui nacque Petrino che fu sindaco di Torino nel 1646 e consegnò l'arma il 17 aprile 1614. Acquistò parte di Monteu da Po dal Barone Francesco Agostino Barozzi il 20 giugno 1668; e ne fu investito il 16 maggio 1670. Il figlio primogenito Filiberto, che consegnò l'arma il 14 agosto 1687, fu padre di Pietro Paolo (n. Torino, 26 genn. 1678), il quale avendo sposato in seconde nozze Vittoria Ruschis, il figlio Pietro Antonio (n. Torino, 23 genn. 1714, dec. ivi, 19 dic. 1765) fu detto Gay-Ruschis. Con lui si estinse questa linea non avendo avuto discendenza. La linea di Quarti trae con tutta probabilità la sua origine da Petrino, se pur non è possibile stabilire la paternità dello stipite Carlo Francesco, il quale morì in Torino il 6
