Antica famiglia, originaria della Sicilia. Giovanni fu Castellano del Castello di Leocata, sotto reFederico III; Andrea, suo figlio, in ricompensa ai servizi resi, dalla Regina Maria, moglie di re Martino, ebbe l'ufficio di Portolano, del Gargator di Leocata, nel 1397. Si casò, costui, con Giulia, figlia di Giovanni Credele, Signor del Castello dell'Aquila, nel 1402, e procreò Giovanni, il quale, dal re Alfonso, ebbe la Castellania di Leontini, ove si casò con la figlia di Nicolò Speciali, e governò quella Città con la dignità Senatoria nel 1443. Altro ramo. Originaria dai Conti di Marsi, prese il nome dalla contea di Celano, ed ebbe nobiltà in Napoli al seggio di Nido, in San Giorgio, in Polistina, e in Sicilia. Oltre i contadi di Celano, di Albe e di Raiano, fu signora di 22 baronie. Rinaldo dette 108 militi per la spedizione di Terra Santa sotto Guglielmo II; Gualtiero, Conte di Celano,
