Antica ed assai nobile famiglia, oriunda dal lago d'Orta, trapiantatasi a Milano almeno dalla metà del secolo XVII e propagatai, successivamente, in diverse regioni d'Italia. La sua genealogia provata risale fino ad un Francesco, vivente negli anni 1476 e 1519. Bartolomeo, di Girolamo, fu investito del feudo di Monticello di Rovagnate, con rogito Francesco Vallotta del 3 ottobre 1692. Giuseppe, di Francesco, abbiatico del predetto Bartolomeo, fu ammesso agli onori del patriziato milanese con decreto del 23 dicembre 1770 e Giovanni, figlio del testè menzionato Giuseppe fu confermato nell'antica nobiltà con Sovrana Risoluzione Austriaca del 21 novembre 1816. Benigno, di Giovanni, di Benigno, nato a Como il 6 luglio 1881, coniugato a Molvedo di Rezzonico (Como) il 14 agosto 1919 con Zita Della Torre. Figli: Giovanni,nato a Molvedo il 4 maggio 1920; Gaetano, nato ivi il 22 maggio 1923. Fratelli: Maria, nata a Milano il 31 agosto 1878, maritata Verga;
