Antica famiglia di origina romana, che fu decorata, nella prima metà del secolo XVIII, di alti uffici di magistratura. Ebbe la signoria di 34 ducati, di due contadi, di tre marchesati, di tre ducati, e dei principati di S. Martino e di Sirignano. Dette alla chiesa quattro Vescovi, e alle sacre scienze insigni teologi. Giorgio fu maestro razionale della gran corte e consigliere di Ferrante I nel 1459, Ferrante ambasciatore ai Veneziani e dal Duca di Milano per Re Alfobnso II di Aragona; Leone senatore di Roma nel 1462 e capitano di Aquila nel 1470; Cesare giustiziere delle provincie di Lecce e di Bari nel 1530. Altro ramo. Trovasi feudataria fin dal 1239, e fu una delle sei famiglie Aquarie del Seggio di Porto.
