Ancient and noble family originally from Messina called Gerbino or Gerobino. The commendator GB of Crollalanza reports the blazon of this family in the volumes of his historical blazon dictionary of the noble and notable Italian families. According to the historian Diligenti who in his "History of illustrious Italian families, by the care and expense of the publisher", published in Florence, we find that this family is of pure Italian origin, scattered in various cities. From the work "Collection of the most illustrious and noble families that once existed and that still flourish in Italy, taken from the Heraldic Theater published in Lodi in 1841, he mentions that the family originally from Sicily, despite the oblivion in which he fell, supported the tests to obtain the nobility in his city. A gentleman clearly derived in Sicily, who gave himself to the military services of Emperor Frederick II, having enjoyed before the greatest loads of his country. This family enjoyed the nobility. in the cities of Palermo, Mazzara, Salemi and Caltagirone and possessed the baronies of Cannitello and Gulfotta. We note an Antoninoche who was sworn in Salemi in 1467-68; a Giovanni, patrician of Caltagirone in 1542-43 and perhaps it was John himself, who, with the privilege of 20 July 1542, obtained the title of royal knight; Ludovico was patrician of Caltagirone in 1602-3; a Niccolò was captain of justice of Mazzara in 1626-27; a Bartolomeo held the same office in d etta city in 1632-33; Stefano was judge of the praetorian court of Palermo in 1668-69; a Placido was sworn to Mazzara in 1701-2; Niccolò Antonio held the same position in 1746-47; Fabiano Gerbino and Agraz was senator of Palermo in 1764-65; Niccolò-Antonio in 1765-66 is proposed among the nobles to be squished in Mazzara; Niccolò was captain of justice
