Família siciliana antiga e nobre, com residência principal em Messina, de virtude clara e ancestral, que se espalhou pelo mundo ao longo dos séculos. A clara nobreza da Casa é confirmada pela presença de seu brasão no valioso trabalho "Il Dizionario histórico-familiar da família nobili e notabili italiane, estinte e fiorenti" do escritor e heraldista italiano Giovan Battista di Crollalanza (19 de maio de 1819 - 8 de março de 1892), publicado em Pisa em três volumes entre 1886 e 1890.
