Fra i difensori di Candia, che malgrado eroica difesa, Venezia dovette perdere, aveva strenuamente combattuto a proprie spese il tenente colonnello Emanuele, nativo di quelle parti, già investito di feudi in quel regno della repubblica veneta. Tali feudi furono da lui abbandonati dopo la caduta di quella piazza per seguire le armi venete, avendo pur lasciando il proprio paese, divenuto preda dei turchi ed essendosi trasferito in Zante. Il Senato veneto, riconoscendo che il detto tenente colonnello colla perdita del regno di Candia era rimasto: "impoverito di molti beni di fortuno che ivi possedeva, non meno che carico di ferite riportate con coraggio nelle difese di quella piazza" con decreto 9 agosto 1704 gli conferiva il titolo di conte trasmissibile ai suoi legittimi discendenti maschi. Sono iscritti nell'Elenco Nobiliare Ufficiale: Mario, nato a Piacenza, 31 agosto 1868, di Pietro, di Antonio e di Evelina Guccione, sposato a Venezia, 11 dicembre
