Antica famiglia originaria di Torri in Sabina e che fu aggregata al patriziato di Macerata nel 1806 in persona di Nicola. La famiglia fu erede della nobile famiglia Viscardi di Velletri con l'obbligo del cognome e dello stemma. Nel 1911 Sua Maestà il re Vittorio Emanuele III concesse in linea primogeniale maschile il titolo di conte a Giulio di Luigi. La Consulta Araldica (vedi Elenco Nobiliare Ufficiale 1908 e 1922) dichiarò spettare a questa famiglia i titoli: Patrizio di Macerata (maschi e femmine) e Conte (maschio primogenito). Suoi rappresentanti: Giulio, nato a Roma 2 aprile 1889 del fu Luigi (1836-1905) e Adele della Rocca. Partito: nel primo di argento troncato da un filetto di nero sostenente un monte di tre cime all'italiana con arboscello nodrito sulla vetta, il tutto di verde; l'arboscello sostenente una testa di cane strappata al naturale; sotto un leone passante sulla pianura erbosa con un puttino di carnagione posto in maestà attraversante al leopardo e tenente con la sinistra la coda del medesimo, il tutto al naturale (Giannelli); nel secondo di azzurro a due spade di argento abbassate e decussate, col capo di argento carico di un'aquila di nero posata, ad ali aperte e con la riga di rosso sulla partizione.
