Família antiga e muito nobre, originária de Florença (San Giovanni, Vaio), cujo ramo passou a Vitulano (Benevento), de virtude clara e ancestral, que se espalhou ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália. A clara nobreza da família é confirmada por sua presença na valiosa obra "O dicionário histórico-brasão de famílias italianas nobres e notáveis que estão extintas e florescendo", pelo genealogista Giovan Battista di Crollalanza, publicado em Pisa em 1886 em três volumes, com mais de 1400 páginas e na "Coleção Ceramelli Papiani", estabelecida por muitos anos por Enrico Ceramelli Papiani (1896-1976), que é uma coleção preservada no Arquivo do Estado de Florença e composta por quase 8000 arquivos, dirigidos a famílias da Toscana de antigas origem, que fornece informações genealógicas e heráldicas obtidas de fontes de arquivo preservadas no Arquivo Florentino ou em outros institutos de arquivo ou em bibliotecas da região.
