Antichissima e generosa nobiltà vanta la famiglia. Le sue prime origini risalgono alle Crociate e sua culla fu la città di Mevania oggi Bevagna, dove fu annoverata sempre tra le più nobili. In patria, i suoi membri ricoprirono le prime cariche civiche ed ebbe una serie ininterrotta di Capi Consoli. Fu iscritta "pro pubblica utilitate" all'Ordine Consolare e Patrizio di Camerino e di Spoleto. Rifulse oltre che nelle scienze giuridiche, anche in quelle mediche nonchè nelle arti e nella milizia. Fu legata da strettissimi vincoli di sangue alla nobilissima e antichissima famiglia Alberti di cui assunse il cognome. Questa nobilissima famiglia le cui origini rimontano al sec. XII fu essa pure di Bevagna e si estinse nel 1803 con l'abate Fabio Alberti erudito e patriottico sacerdote. Fu di questa famiglia quella Monna Vanna Alberti che fu madre del Beato Giacomo Bianconi dottissimo predicatore domenicano morto nel 1280, noto anche
