Ancienne et très noble famille toscane, avec première résidence à San Sepolcro, de vertu claire et ancestrale, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie. D'après ce qui nous est transmis, la famille est originaire d'Osimo, dans la région des Marches, où depuis le Xème siècle elle jouissait de la seigneurie de la Tour. Quand Osimo a été accordé à la République florentine, en 1440 par le pape Eugène IV, la famille Giovagnoli a obtenu l'admission au Gonfalonierato. En réalité, une branche de la famille Giovagnoli, avec d'autres maisons nobles d'Osimo, était déjà arrivée en Toscane pour construire la ville de San Sepolcro, à l'aube du premier Xe siècle. De cette noble prosapia descendent : le cavalier Gianmaria, de feu Léonard, résidant à Florence ; Rév. P. Aurelio, général de la RR. Moines de San Silvestro; dr. Francesco, chanoine; marquis abbé chevalier Giorgio Luigi, de feu Marchee Andrea Gasparo.
