Outra família distinguiu-se da homônima que floresceu até 1260, encontrando Giliotti di Baliotto Girolami entre as fileiras dos Guelph na batalha da Arbia. Deu à república quatro gonfaloniers e treze priores entre 1296 e 1529. Foi dividido no século XIV em dois ramos, o primeiro dos quais ao qual pertencia o famoso legista e senador de Zanobi di Zanoli, foi extinto em 1664. Do segundo ramo, o embaixador de Francesco a Júlio II em 1502. Raphael comissário em Poggibonsi; João Arcebispo criou Paulo III; outro Raffaello Arcebispo de Damiata em 1728 e Cardeal em 1743. Hoje não há notícias dessa família. Era o costume das famílias mais antigas, que após a queda do Império Romano, naquele dilúvio dos bárbaros, tendo seus sobrenomes, assim como seus estudos, e outras coisas bonitas perdidas e deixadas apenas com nomes simples, desenhavam seus sobrenomes , e sua família por nomes próprios paternos e pelos

D'argento, alla croce di sant'Andrea di nero, accompagnata nel capo da una mitria del campo.

Blasone della famiglia Girolami o «Girolami del Vescovo» in Firenze, Santa Croce, Carro; fonte: "Raccolta Ceramelli Papiani" custodita presso l'archivio di stato di Firenze fasc.2404. Note: Nel Sepoltuario Rosselli lo stemma si trova partito con l'arma della famiglia Covoni (Badia fiorentina, Zanobi Girolami e Cassandra Covoni, sec.XVI). La mitria allude alla presunta appartenenza alla famiglia di san Zanobi, vescovo fiorentino del IV secolo. Nelle Filze di giustificazioni per l'ammissione al patriziato fiorentino di Pietro Zanobi Girolami, 1751, sotto la mitria si trova una croce di Santo Stefano: il richiedente era infatti balì dell'Ordine di Santo Stefano. Ultimo della famiglia, egli lasciò eredi i nipoti, figli di Pier Francesco Covoni.
