Además de las nueve baronías que instituyó en Cataluña Otger Catazlot o Catalon se fueron instituyendo nuevos títulos de condes, vizcondes, varvesores, etc., principalmente en tiempo del primer conde de Barcelona Don Jofreó Sinofredo el Velloso, hasta que en las córtes que tuvo el conde Don Ramon Berenguer, llamado el Viejo, se regularizaron dichos títulos, estableciendo nueve condes, nueve vizcondes, nueve barones, nueve nobles y nueve varvesores. Y entre las ilustre familias que obtuvieron este título de varvesor, se distingue la de G., que obtuvo la varvesoría de Guimerá.
