Deixando de lado a fabulosa descida romana de Giunio Bruto, afirmada na crônica do pseudo Malespini, podemos certamente acreditar que os Giugni eram uma das famílias mais poderosas de Florença até a segunda metade do século. XIII. Cambio e junho são vistos entre os oficiais do exército florentino em Montaperti em 1260; em 1291, foram admitidos no convento na pessoa de Ugolino di Zampa e, a partir de então, tinham 50 priores e 18 Gonfalonieri di Giustizia. Os outros escritórios que ocupavam são inúmeros. Em 1366, encontramos o embaixador Niccolò d'Ugolino em várias cidades da Itália para a conclusão de uma liga contra os Visconti.
