Der Familienname stammt aus der Ehe zwischen Bernardo Giunti und Dorotea Modesti im Jahre 1530; Diese Familie lebte in Prato: Giovanni Francesco und sein Bruder Giulio di Modesto Giunti Modesti wurden 1765 in den Prato-Adel aufgenommen. nur Giovanni Francesco hingegen wurde 1789 in das Florentiner Patriziat aufgenommen.
