Alte und adelige Familie, die zuerst in Genua und Mailand und später im Laufe der Jahrhunderte in mehreren anderen Regionen Italiens blühte, wo einige Varianten des Familiennamens wie Grade, de Gradi usw. gelesen wurden. Der Familienname leitet sich direkt oder durch hypochoristische Formen vom mittelalterlichen Namen "Gradus" ab. Familienmotto: SCRR Anderer Zweig. Alte und edle sizilianische Familie mit Wohnsitz in der Stadt Ragusa. Die Familie hob die roten Arme zur silbernen Treppe, die in einem Band angeordnet war und in den Kantonen des Schildes endete. Der Commendator GB von Crollalanza berichtet über das Wappen dieser Familie in den Bänden seines "Historical Blazon Dictionary" italienischer Adelsfamilien.

D'oro, alle lettere maiuscole romane di nero S. C. R. R. in banda, ciascuna in sbarra accompagnate a sinistra in capo da un mastio d'argento merlato, torricellato d'un pezzo anche merlato; a destra, in punta da una graticola quadrata di nero di quattro pezzi, due orizzontali, due verticali.
