Domina Lucia qm. Andrea de Grandis fu sepolta nel 1459 nella chiesa di San Silvestro in Capite. Nel 1446 troviamo un Jacobus de Grandis de regione Arenulae; nel 1488 viveva a Roma Dominicus de Grandis da Reggio; nel 1583 Magn. Dominus Alexander de Grandis nobilis ferrariensis et Civis Romanus, ciò che prova che varie furono le famiglie di questo cognome residenti a Roma. L'antica, di cui è registrato lo stemma negli armeristi romani, usava la seguente arma: spaccato merlato inchiavato di nero e d'argento. Capo d'oro caricato di 3 gigli d'azzurro. Altro ramo, Grandi di Ferrara. Nobilitata dagli Estensi. Giovanni de' Grandi guerriero coraggioso si distinse nella guerra contro i Reggiani nel 1403; Giulio Vescovo di Anglona nel 1548. Ebbe una serie non interrotta di grandi legisti, d'illustri guerrieri oltre a molti artisti di merito, tra i quali Ercole vissuto nel 1531 pittore di vaglia. Altro ramo, Grandi di Cremona.
