Una famiglia di questo nome ebbe feudi in Val di Taro e in Val di Cerro e nobiltà a Cremona. Altra famiglia fu ascritta nel 1528 all'Albergo Interiano. Il capostipite degli attuali nobili è un Pasqualino, che discese da S. Maria del Taro a Rapallo ed ivi morì il 16 febb. 1730. Fu suo figlio Benedetto, n. nel 1708; da lui Nicolò, n. nel 1763; poi Benedetto, n. 1796 e suo fratello Giuseppe, n. 1807. Questi fu madre di Petronio, Nicolò e Tomaso Maria, nato quest'ultimo nel 1840, morto nel 1811, arcivescovo titolare di Seleucia, commissario generale del Santo ufficio, consultore della Sacra Congregazione concistoriale. Da Benedetto nacque Emilio nel 1829 che morì nel 1904 disponendo un vistoso legato per mantenere in pii ricoveri fanciulle orfane di Quarto al Mare e di Rapallo.
