Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Hervé, ambassadeur du duc Jean IV en Angleterre en 1384; Yves, chanoine de Léon, conseiller et aumônier du duc François II en 1472; Christophe, greffier d'office de Lesneven en 1538; Vincent, sénéchal de Carhaix, mort en 1630, oncle du R. P. Albert le Grand, dominicain, auteur de la Vie des Saints de Bretagne, publiée en 1635. Les seigneurs de la Villeneuve, déboutés à la réformation de 1668, ont produit un payeur des gages des officiers de la chancellerie en 1764, mort en charge. Autre branche: Guillaume, époux de Michelle Vautier, père de Jean, maintenu par arrêt des aides de Rouen en 1483, marié à Raoulette des Moullineaux; Jean, vivant en 1540 épouse Marie de Keroman; Jean, élu d'Avranches en 1600, épouse Françoise Payen; Jean, auditeur des comptes en 1715; François, fils de Jean-Claude et de Marie du Bourblanc, docteur en Sorbonne et archidiacre d'Ack en 1746.
