Famiglia originaria del Trentino, si stabilì nel secolo XVIII a Ferrara e si divise in due rami che sono ancora fiorenti: uno cittadinesco e l'altro, che venne insignito del titolo comitale nel 1778. Questo ultimo ramo riconosce come suo stipite Ercole che fu chiaro giureconsulto, uditore di Rota, autore di pregevoli Consigli legali, morto nel 1766. Suo figlio Ippolito, dottore in leggi, fu eletto Vicario Generale di Ferrara, e Vescovo di Città della Pieve, dove morì nel 1754. Stefano venne ascritto al I° ordine del Consiglio Centumvirale, diventò Giudice dei Savi nel 1780 e morì nel 1800. Altro Ercole, distinto letterato poeta, cultore delle belle arti, fu nominato Cavaliere dell'Ordine Piano. Figli del suddetto Ercole, furono Stefano e Albino, che alla sua volta fu padre di Ercole il quale sposò la contessa Giulia Trotti, e ne ebbe due figli, Albino e Rodolfo, e che morì pochi anni or sono. Altro ramo. Antica e nobile famiglia originaria di Bologna.
