Originario de Greco, una ciudad de Lombardía que mantuvo como vasallo del Monasterio de S. Sempliciano en Milán, y del cual tomó su nombre al decir primero de Greco, luego Greco, de Greci, de Grechi y finalmente Grechi. Monseñor Andrea Greco, vicario capitular de la metrópoli de Milán, murió en 1501 en Codogno, donde hizo donaciones al prepostural como testamento. Un notajo de Giambattista en Lodi en 1614. Otro Giambattista fundó una capilla laica en 1714, y un tercer juez de Giambattista en Venecia en los últimos años de esa República. La familia Grechi levantó los brazos: Inquartato; en el primero y cuarto de azul, con el lirio dorado; en el segundo y el tercero de plata, la viril cabeza sin barba de tez, crinita de negro, retorcida de rojo, la de la revuelta del segundo cuarto. El encuadre dividido por una cruz roja y dorada de dos filas.

Inquartato; nel primo e quarto d'azzurro, al giglio d'oro; nel secondo e terzo d'argento, alla testa virile imberbe di carnagione, crinita di nero, attorcigliata di rosso, quella del secondo quarto rivolta. L'inquartatura divisa da una croce scaccata d'oro e di rosso di due file.
