Originaria di Greco paese della Lombardia che tenne come vassalla del Monastero di S. Sempliciano di Milano, e di cui prese il nome dicendosi prima di Greco, poi Greco, de Greci, di Grechi e finalmente Grechi. Monsignor Andrea Greco vicario capitolare della Metropoli di Milano morto nel 1501 in Codogno ove fece per testamento elargizioni a quella prepositurale. Un Giambattista notajo in Lodi nel 1614. Un altro Giambattista fondò nel 1714 una cappella laicale, ed un terzo Giambattista giudice a Venezia negli ultimi anni di quella Repubblica. La famiglia Grechi alzò per arme: Inquartato; nel primo e quarto d'azzurro, al giglio d'oro; nel secondo e terzo d'argento, alla testa virile imberbe di carnagione, crinita di nero, attorcigliata di rosso, quella del secondo quarto rivolta. L'inquartatura divisa da una croce scaccata d'oro e di rosso di due file.
