Linhagem muito antiga e nobre originalmente de Chieri. No século XII, quando as famílias patrícias se uniram para se proteger das pessoas que muitas vezes se levantaram em armas contra eles em congregações ou hospícios também chamados de sociedades de soldados ou cavaleiros ou barões. O hospício Gribaldenghi incluía as famílias de Gribaldenghi, Broglia, Bullio, Bensi e Moffa. Na bibliografia "Dicionário Comercial Estatístico Histórico" do Prof. Goffredo Casalis impresso em Turim em 1837 na página. 755 lemos: "...Citaremos agora os Gribaldenghis ou Gribaudis de quem tomou o nome o antigo hospício dos nobres de Chieri, Gribaldenghi, com o qual foi a ilustre família Broglia.
