Familia antigua, anteriormente llamada Fioroni por el fiorone criado en el arma, oriunda di Mandello (Milán). En 1400 fue a establecerse en Ravenna con un Pietro. Battista, su hijo, era coronel de infantería al servicio de la República de Venecia y se cubrió con tanto honor como para merecer el puesto de Castellano della Rocca que, en ese momento, los venecianos erigieron en Rávena, además del rango de gobernador de la misma ciudad, y en 1641 tuvo el privilegio de exención de deberes, para él y sus descendientes. Pietro, hijo de este último, en 1648 tenía el título de Conde y Caballero Imperial de Federico III de Austria.
