Famiglia molto antica e nobile, oriunda da Marene, le cui prime notizie rimontano all'anno 1154, ovvero sin dall'anno in cui una "Carta venditionis" di Milano riporta: "...Ibi statim coram ipsis testibus dedit vuadiam ipsa Richa consentiente suprascripto Ambroxio eidem Carnelvario ita si ipse campus est inpiliatum vel invasatum, vel si intencio vel discordiam apaluerint, defendere ei debet iure, sic posuit fideiusorem Grossum de suprascripto loco qui obligavit se ese fideiusor usque ad annis quinque, et illa con suis heredibus omni tempore in iure....". Giovanni Oddino, il quale nacque il 17 novembre 1685, e fu segretario civile del Senato, fu padre di Felice, dottore di leggi, padre di altro Oddino che sposò Genoveffa Messier, sorella di Amedeo primo ed unico conte di Grana (1781).
