Antica, nobile famiglia della Costiera Amalfitana, che per possessi feudali in Nocera dei Pagani, ivi prese stabile dimora dalla seconda metà del secolo XV. Simone fu avvocato di grido e lettore di istituzioni romane nei regi Studi nel 1535; Andrea, suo nipote, giureconsulto e letterato, fu giudice della Gran Corte della Vicaria. Francesco Antonio, nipote di un Tommaso d'Amalfi, ma stabilitosi in Nocera dei Pagani, ottenne il 28 settembre 1572 da re Filippo II di Spagna diploma di regia familiarità. Il 24 maggio 1574 fu ammesso a far parte del Sedile di Ravello. Questa famiglioa fu ricevuta per giustizia nell'Ordine di Malta. E' divisa in cinque rami tutti iscritti nell'ElencoUfficiale Italiano col titolo di Patrizio di Ravello (maschi) per riconoscimento 1902 e cioè: 1. Francesco Paolo, nato a Cava dei Tirreni 2 settembre 1858, Consigliere di Cassazione a riposo, di Marcantonio (nato 1828, deceduto 1919) e della nobile Maddalena Armenante
