De origem albanesa antiga, passou no século dezoito no reino de Nápoles, ocupando altas fileiras militares no exercício das Duas Sicílias. Demétrio era comandante sob o rei Fernando IV de Bourbon, do regimento real da Macedônia. Giulio Lecca Ducagini, por seu casamento com Maria Guevara Suardo, foi adotado por seu irmão Prospero, o último desta ilustre casa, e assim adicionou a família Guevara Suardo à sua. Com RD 2 de agosto de 1914, Giulio foi condecorado por SM, o rei do título transmissível de duque. A família está inscrita no Livro Dourado da nobreza italiana e na Lista oficial de nobres da Itália com o título de duque (mpr.) Na pessoa de Achille Ducagini Guevara Suardo, n. em Roma, 9 de fevereiro de 1900, filho do duque dec. Giulio e a nobre Maria Guevara Suardo dos Duques de Bovino.
